PIAVE “TUNNEL SPRAYER” has a system for placing under pressure and distributing pesticides or leaf fertilizers, as well as equipment for the recovery and recycling of that part of the product that does not adhere to the vegetation. The spraying stage is not carried out “in the open air”, as with traditional equipment, but inside tunnels where a mix of air and solution is created that swirls through the vegetation and reaches every part of it evenly. The recovered part of the liquid is made up of the larger drops that do not adhere and the part of the spray that does not reach the vegetation and sticks to the tunnel walls, where the effect of gravity makes it run to the bottom, where it is collected, filtered and then poured into the tank to be re-used. The innovative factor is that a restricted portion of air containing the plant treatment substances is sprayed between the aisles so that very little product does not reach its target. The vantages are as follows:
– use of pesticides reduced by 60 to 70%, with benefits for the environment;
– improved conditions for workers as the pesticide is distributed in a protected environment;
– significant cost reductions due to the use of fewer pesticides with a relatively small initial investment and less maintenance than sprayers using forced ventilation;
– effective treatments as every part of the vegetation is evenly covered by a pesticide saturated atmosphere.
